Restauration de l'église Saint-James à Hatley
L’église Saint-James est un bâtiment patrimonial de Classe “A”, la plus élevée au classement du Conseil du patrimoine religieux du Québec. En 2000, des travaux de rénovation majeurs de la fondation et du clocher ainsi que quelques réparations mineures ont été exécutés par l’église. En 2021, le comité patrimonial du doyenné de Saint Francis a engagé un groupe d’experts en architecture et ingénierie du patrimoine religieux pour établir un plan de rénovation incluant de nouveaux systèmes électriques et mécaniques, ainsi que la restauration des fenêtres et du recouvrement extérieur en bois.

L’église anglicane Saint-James est située à Hatley, un des villages les plus pitoresques du Québec. Elle nécessite plusieurs travaux de restauration afin de préserver sa grande valeur patrimoniale. Bien que le comité en charge de la restauration compte en grande partie sur l’aide financière du gouvernement, il lance une levée de fonds auprès d’un public valorisant la protection de ce joyau de notre patrimoine.

Restauration project of the Saint James Church
Saint James Anglican Church is a designated Class “A” heritage building, the highest-class designation, under the Quebec Religious Heritage Council. In 2000, Saint James Church underwent its first major restoration of the foundation, bell tower and other minor repairs. In 2021, the St. Francis’s Deanery Heritage Committee retained the services of heritage experts in architecture and engineering who completed a work plan which includes a new electrical and mechanical system, restoration of exterior windows and new wood siding.
The Committee is launching a campaign with the objective of raising $350,000.00
The church is located in Hatley, one of the most historic villages of Quebec. It is of great patrimonial value and needs substantial renovations to be restored and safely preserved. While the committee in charge of the restoration is counting on the help of government funding, it is also starting a fundraising project to seek support from people that value this important piece of history.
